Together we will be 

Working with Senior Health and Safety Manager, Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), managers, supervisors, and individual employees to promote occupational health and safety within the facilities to develop safer, healthier, and more efficient methods of working.

What you will do

  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements of the Ministry of Labour, OHSA, WSIB, AODA.

  • Lead the activities and responsibilities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, working closely with committee representatives and management.

  •  Implement the company Health and Safety Management System which includes setting standards, communication,   training, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

  • Identify and evaluate potential hazards, provide recommendations to correct the hazard(s), and follow up on implemented recommendations.

  • Receive worker concerns,   complaints, and recommendations relating to health and safety and address them in a timely fashion.

  • Conduct accident/incident investigations to determine root cause and ensure corrective action(s) have been Implemented.

  • Organize and manage internal training modules and external safety training vendors while maintaining meticulous training records.

  • Source, recommend, and implement Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and conduct safety audits enforcing the use of this PPE.

  • Track and report on the effectiveness of company safety and environmental programs.

  • Completion of a Health and Safety degree/certificate/diploma through a recognized post-secondary educational institution.

  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing environment.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety related legislation acts, and standards in Ontario.

  • Strong knowledge of production-related machinery and equipment, process, and systems. Specific experience with the curtain wall industry is an asset.

  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Must be detailed-oriented, able to exercise good judgment, and have effective decision-making skills.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize, as necessary.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey information accurately and clearly.

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and own transportation is required to travel routinely to alternative sites
